Editorial Internships

Editorial Internships & Social Media Internships at Princeton News Network (PNN) are available to college students whose course of study allows college credit for working in a journalism, new media, communications or marketing environments. PNN will assist the student in implementing internship arrangements for credit, including reports to instructors.

Man On The Street InterviewEditorial Internship Position: Assisting editors with duties such as reviewing transcripts and video footage, fact checking, researching, transcribing and reporting. Interns will learn valuable lessons about how an online news source is produced and published, including research, writing, interviewing, video production, and how to publish news content.

Editorial Internship Responsibilities:
* Researching and fact-checking for news reports.
* Review and reply to visitor comments and requests for information.
* Review transcribed interviews, some transcription as needed.
* Research publications and other resources for potential news story ideas.
*Assist editorial staff as needed.

Social Media Internship Responsibilities:
* Assist the developing content for PNN’s various social media platforms.
* Write and send messages, post links, and respond to questions on Facebook and Twitter.
* Research potential ways to improve PNN’s presence in social media.

Internship Requirements:
* Open to college students majoring in journalism, new media, communications, or marketing.
* Excellent grammar, spelling and speaking ability.
* Evidence of ability to learn excellent writing, editing, and basic Search Engine Optimization skills.
* Skills in graphics software, video editing software, WordPress publishing and SEO are a plus.

Internship Hours: Interns are expected to work for one full college semester, or for at least eight weeks during summer. Renewal for an additional time period may be approved. Princeton News Network prefers a minimum of two hours of work per attendance day. We recommend 8 hours per attendance week.
