on or before September 17, 2010. A designated adult must be the primary contact person for each
team.
• Judging/Prizes: Prizes are awarded in the following categories: Creativity (originality, artistry
and/or showmanship); Sustainability (best use of recycled and/or natural materials); Speed
(engineering the fastest coaster car). All cars will be automatically entered in all three categories. The
fastest car will be determined by a timer. The other categories will be judged by a team of
independent judges who will examine the cars and talk to the contestants just prior to the race. All
cars must cross the finish line to qualify for a prize. There will be a maximum of two prizes awarded
per winning car.
• Driver/Team Specifications: You can have as many teammates as you want to cheer you on, but
only two can operate the car (a driver and a runner). A teammate responsible for giving the car a
running start is recommended, but not mandatory. The runner has the option of jumping on as a

and the input he/she has put into the concept and design of the car. Cars must be no larger than 3’
wide and 9’ long and MUST HAVE A FUNCTIONING, BUILT-IN STEERING AND BRAKING
SYSTEM. Use of the following will lead to disqualification: sharp, flammable or dangerous parts;
words or images deemed inappropriate for a family event; poor sportsmanship on the part of the
contestants and/or their parents.
